You can't sleep
Again.

I don't even know why you try to anymore.
It never happens.

You tried meditating.
Clearing your mind of everything
and just
Being in the present moment.
We both know that doesn't work for you
You who thinks at a speed rivaling a jet that travels at mach 10.

Three weeks ago
You tried exercising.
I don't even know why they suggest that
All it does is make your heart pump faster
Your pulse race
Raise your blood pressure
While you're TRYING TO RELAX
Idiots.

Two weeks ago
You tried reading.
Fail.
For you reading is like watching an action movie:
How can you stop when things are just starting to get interesting?
So you read till four in the morning.

And last week
You tried the meds.
All they do is make you
Irritable
Grouchy
Sloth-like
Angry
Unapproachable
Volatile
All of which are very unusual for you
And NONE of which help you sleep any better.

And so
You write.
You write about everything;
Nanobots
Blue elephants
Insanity
Love
Loss
Hate
Indifference
Even stalkers.

And through all this
As you type blissfully unaware
I watch.
I hope
"Maybe, just Maybe, you'll sleep well tonight."

And like clockwork
Each night at that thought
As if you can read my mind
You save your work
Close your laptop
Roll over
And sleep.

I think to myself
"Have pleasant dreams
And I'll see you tomorrow night."

Just dreaming through my fingers. Dreams are interesting in the way that they can transfer themselves so easily from your mind's eye to your fingers to the keys to the screen in front of your eyes.

Enjoy and comment if you will.

When I finish writing for the night, it usually leaves me thinking about what I wrote and wondering what I could have done differently, or how people may respond to it, or if they even will, or whether or not I actually hit the 'save' button, or if I spelled a certain word right, or... :giggle:

:D Great piece!
